  1. Someone comments your keyword

    Riya comments “GUIDE” on your Reel. Clio matches it against the keywords you picked — or any comment, if you prefer.

  2. Clio replies to the comment

    A public reply under her comment, in your words, so everyone scrolling sees you answer.

  3. A private DM, with a button

    The DM lands in her inbox seconds later. One tap on “Send it to me” carries on the conversation.

  4. Follower check

    Clio asks Instagram live whether she follows you. Not yet? She’s asked to follow and tap “Done, I follow” to be checked again.

  5. Your link is delivered

    The guide, product, booking or discount link goes out in the DM — only once the check passes.

  6. Saved as a contact in Clio

    Riya joins your CRM with a label, and can start a follow-up workflow on WhatsApp or Instagram.

Pick the post and the keywords

Choose a Reel or post, then one or more keywords — matched exactly or anywhere in the comment, ignoring case and punctuation. Or reply to every comment.

Public reply

Write the reply that appears under the comment, or switch it off and keep everything in the DMs.

A simple DM or an interactive flow

Send one message with your link, or build a short flow with buttons and branches — the follower check is one of its steps.

Once per person

Send the DM once per person, once per person per post, every time, or after a cooldown — so nobody gets the same message twice.

Contacts, labels and workflows

Every commenter can become a contact with labels added or removed, and kick off any workflow you’ve built.

What do I need to use comment-to-DM?

An Instagram professional account (creator or business), connected to Clio by signing in to Instagram from the Integrations screen.

How does the follower check work?

When the flow reaches the check, Clio asks Instagram whether that person follows your account at that moment. If Instagram can’t confirm it, the “not following” path runs — the link is never sent on a guess.

Will the same person get the DM more than once?

Only if you want them to. Each automation can send once per person, once per person per post, every time, or again after a cooldown you choose.

Does it work on Facebook too?

Yes. Creator Automations also turn comments on Facebook Page posts into Messenger DMs, with the same keywords, replies and contact saving.

Can my team reply after the automation?

Yes. The DM thread lands in Clio’s shared inbox, so anyone on your team can pick the conversation up from there. See also Instagram messaging.
